Turning 50 is a great reason to celebrate, and the party wouldn't be complete without age-themed party games. Some fun ideas may include playing popular party games from the guest of honor's childhood. It can be fun to take a brief step back in time, but games adults would enjoy should also be incorporated to keep guests entertained. Does this Spark an idea?
Guess the Price
Before the party, look up popular items that were purchased and used the year the guest of honor was born. Print out pictures of the items and glue them to pieces of cardboard. Make sure to jot down on the back of the cardboard what the item cost that year. For larger parties, divide guests into teams. For smaller parties, let the guests decide if they'd like partners or they'd like to play solo. Each person or team will need a pen and a piece of paper. Show the pictures to the guests and allow them to write down how much they think the item was that year. Once everyone has guesses written down, reveal the real price. The guest who gets the most correct wins.
Music Through the Years Karaoke
Have a karaoke machine set up for guests to use with music from the year the guest of honor was born to the present. Place song names in a hat and randomly pull one out at the beginning of the player's turn. The player must then sing the song. They guest who has the best performance is the winner. If guests are shy, this can be played with teams. The team members will sing together. A bowl can also be set near the stage to allow guests to vote on their favorite performance of the evening.
This is Your Life
Using a computer, compile various events that may or may not have occurred in the guest of honor's life. For example, use facts such as her birth date or anniversary, things they may or may not have done in their lives or jobs they have held throughout the years. Compile this into a true or false game. Give guests a set amount of time to answer. The person who answers the most correctly is the winner.
50th Birthday Pictionary
To play this game, you need a large pad of paper, a timer and markers. Hang the pad of paper on the wall or place it on an easel. On slips of paper, write down things that were popular during the decade the guest of honor was born. Fold the papers and place them in a bowl, making sure there is an even number of papers. Popular foods, cars, toys or even names of songs from the decade can be used. Divide guests into two teams, and set the timer for one minute. The team that goes first will choose a player to draw. That player will pick a piece of paper out of the bowl. They must try to draw what the paper says while their team guesses the answer. If they guess correctly before time runs out, they get a point. If they don't guess the correct answer, the other team has a chance to guess. If the other team gets it right, they get the point. Continue playing, alternating teams, until the papers in the bowl are gone. The team with the most points wins.
