Activities During December In Oahu

Whale-watching is one of the activities offered in Oahu in December.

Oahu is the third largest of Hawaii's six islands. It is home to the city of Waikiki and to some of Hawaii's best beaches in the North Shore. You'll find many things to do in Oahu, sometimes called "The Gathering Place," in December. Whether it's enjoying nature and the outdoors or attending an annual event, you're sure to discover many things during your winter trip to Oahu.

Whale-Watching on Oahu

From December to May, you can experience whale-watching in the southern seas of Oahu and spot a humpback whale or kohola in Hawaiian. The whales come to these waters to breed and give birth to new calves each year and may be observed from different places in Oahu. You can take a guided tour, charter a boat, or view the creatures from beaches or from southeastern Oahu spots such as Makapuu Lighthouse and Hanauma Bay.

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing

The Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, held from November to December each year, is a series of three men's and three women's pro surfing events. Watch the event that attracts more than 100 of the world's best surfers to the North Shore's legendary winter waves. Each winter, you can watch as surfers master the 30-foot waves and as a new champion emerges.

Annual Kapolei Hale City Lights

The Annual Kapolei Hale City Lights, in its ninth year in 2010, is a free event held in December. The entire family can enjoy games, contests, and food booths and watch an electric light parade that winds through Kapolei Town. The parade, which includes more than 15 decorated vehicles, is followed by the lighting of the town's Christmas tree and musical entertainment.

Wiki Wiki One Day Vintage Collectibles & Hawaiiana Show
