First Birthday Ideas With Rubber Ducks

First Birthday Ideas With Rubber Ducks

Celebrating your child's first birthday is a big milestone for any parent. And for that reason, parents spend weeks planning the perfect party with a theme that fits their little one's personality. First birthday party themes range from popular kid's television shows to a child's favorite food and even their favorite animal or toy. A popular first birthday theme that's kid-friendly and nostalgic is a rubber-ducky theme. Ideas for this theme include incorporating images of rubber ducks in everything from the invitations to the favors. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations

Invitations for a rubber-duck themed first birthday party can be easily created at home using card stock paper. Select paper from your local craft store or party store that already has a rubber ducky background. Or, opt for yellow card stock to create your invite. The wording can incorporate words usually associated with ducks such as "quack," "duckie," "splash," "splish" or "waddle." For an added touch, include a picture of your child in the bath tub splashing or in his bath robe. You can also purchase pre-made rubber-duck themed invitations at your local stationery store, party store or superstore.

Menu

Make your child's rubber-duck themed party special by including elements of the party theme in the menu. Serve cupcakes to guests topped with miniature rubber ducks or rubber-duck shaped cupcake toppers personalized with your child's name. Use a large punch bowl and fill it with blue juice so that it looks like water. Put three or four rubber ducks inside of the bowl so it looks as if they're swimming in a pond.

Decorations

Aside from traditional first birthday decoration ideas, which include streamers and balloons, make your child's rubber-duck themed first birthday special by creating or purchasing a custom banner with your child's name and a rubber duck design in the background. As a table centerpiece, place medium-sized stuffed ducks at each table and attach a balloon bouquet to each.

Create a bath scene in your backyard or in an open area of your home. Set up a bubble machine, a large pail or bucket and bath supplies. Let each parent put their child in the bucket, or stand them up outside of the bucket, for a bath themed photograph that they can take home as a memento.

Favors

From stuffed ducks to personalized first birthday rubber-ducky themed t-shirts or blankets, gift your party attendees with a theme oriented-favor they can take home with them to remember your child's party. Duck-shaped cookies with your child's initials or the number one, packaged in a clear cellophane bag and tied with a ribbon could make for a good favor, or floating rubber ducks that attendees can use for bath time at home.
