A bachelorette party is supposed to be a fun time for the bride, her bridesmaids and her friends to get together and go out for a night on the town. The bachelorette party is a popular tradition because it provides a time for the girls to get together and have some fun amid the stress of planning a wedding. Since a wedding comes with expenses for those involved in it, those planning and attending the bachelorette may have a budget in mind.
Party at Home
Bring the party to someone's house; ask the guests if one of them will volunteer their house for the party location. This will save money on renting a hotel suite or spending the night out at restaurants and bars. Instead, have each guest bring a dish for a potluck dinner and a bottle of wine or liquor.
If you choose to get a male dancer, everyone in the party can pitch in to pay for the entertainment. If you really want to save money, you can always get a good-looking male friend to stop in and make a few extra bucks. This could be awkward later on, though, if there's a chance that the party guests and this male friend may meet up again.
A bachelorette house party gives you the options for different activities. For example, you can set up games like darts, beer pong, pool or board games that the hostess may have. If you prefer to go a different route with the party theme, you can rent movies and have an in-house girls' spa night while watching the bride's favorite movies.
Make Your Fun
If you're having the party at someone's house, decorating can be affordable, depending on what you use. Simple party decorations like balloons and streamers can be found at party-supply and discount stores; these create a fun atmosphere for a bachelorette party decorations. For a naughty touch and a little more money, blow up condoms instead of balloons for the party. You can also make your own games for the bachelorette party. One idea is an adult version of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" using a poster of a male model and cutouts that represent a certain part of the male anatomy.
Save a few bucks by making a veil for the bachelorette to wear rather than buying one. You'll need some tulle and an inexpensive white headband. Sew or use hot glue to attach the material to the headband, and you'll have a bachelorette veil that cost around $5 to make. Buy cheap T-shirts and fabric paint from a craft-supply store, and have the wedding party make their own T-shirts to wear during the bachelorette party. This is a fun way to support the bride that may save you some money if you decide to go out to a bar, as many times the bride and sometimes the bridesmaids will have drinks bought for them by amused bar patrons.
Split the Cost
If you decide to go all out and spend a night on the town with dinner, dancing and drinking, make sure everyone except the bride chips in to foot the bill for the bachelorette party. This way, one person isn't stuck with the full cost of the party, and chances are, when split among all of the guests, the price won't be so bad on any one person.
This also works if you decide to keep the party at home, but assign what each person needs to contribute to the party. For example, have one person be in charge of decorations, a few in charge of food and a few in charge of drinks. This will help each person contribute to the party, but no one will bear the burden of a major expense.
